“The Transformative Benefits of Taking Time for Yourself in Midlife”

When I had my yoga & pilates studio, actively teaching, creating workshops and trainings I led several retreats.  AND, I attended at least one longer retreat per year.

I am pretty passionate about what I do and …. sometimes I get so immersed I need to take time – usually away from the norm of what I am doing – to gain a different perspective.  One of the most best parts of the retreats I attended was all I really needed to do was pack my bags and get there.

I recall my first retreat in Costa Rica.  I arrived, the weather was incredible, I jumped into a van and we ventured on quite a ride to the most incredible resort I have ever been to.

Several years later, in a different season of my life, I still love “retreating”.  However, now I lead retreat with a different focus –

It lights me up supporting women in midlife by creating life-changing retreats that provide a safe and nurturing space for growth, healing, and connection. There’s something incredibly powerful about witnessing women rediscover their inner strength and clarity as they step into their next chapter.

As you may or may not be experiencing …..midlife is a time of significant change and growth, yet many women often neglect their own needs while caring for others.

But here’s the truth: taking time for yourself is one of the most transformative gifts you can give during this stage of life. It’s not about selfishness; it’s about honoring your well-being so you can show up fully for yourself and those around you.

Here is my take on the benefits to our sense of well-being …

In midlife, we often find ourselves questioning our purpose and direction.  Oh, how my perspective on purpose and direction is not what it use to be, I absolutely believe living my desires now instead of waiting for this or that.

Here is a big tip: when you take the time to care for yourself, you start to feel empowered and confident in making choices that align with your values and desires.

When I give myself the time to rest and recharge, I feel a deep sense of emotional healing. It’s in those quiet moments that I can truly reflect, grow, and let go of what no longer serves me, making space for new possibilities and a renewed sense of self.

Lastly, taking time for yourself can also improve the relationships in your life. When you feel balanced, centered, and fulfilled, you’re better able to nurture meaningful connections with others.

If you are wondering, maybe curious if retreats are a thing for you. I created a guide for you “10 signs you’re ready for a retreat” below.
